‘Twas the night for Gala planning

And all through the meeting

Each director was thinking

How to fill all the seating

The theme was expanded

In costume to wear

Favorite fictional character

And a mask not to share

The music was planned

With a great deal of care

In hopes many patrons

Soon would be there

Imagine an opening

Theatrical score

With song and dance

And a great deal more

Then highlights of actors

On the big screen to view

Then roll away, roll away

Onto something new

When out in the lobby

There arose such a clatter

Oh dear, no not this

Did a wine glass shatter?

Away to the table I flew like a flash

Lift open the warming tray

And serve up the – mash?

The lights on the stage for the keyboard

To show

Gave a luster of sounds

For the audience to know

When what to my wondering ears

Should I hear

Maybe sax and accordion or

Floor base to cheer

You know what they say

If you dream, let’s dream big!

More wine Garcon and

When’s our next gig?

A sprightly board member, so lively and quick

Must be Gigi, Gala leader

Firing up the troops, it’s quite a trick,

getting us all so eager

More rapid than eagles

Ideas they came

She insisted intently

And called them by name:

Now, Susan! Now, Steven

Now, Karil! Now, Val!

On, Miranda! On, Eric!

On, Julie and Frank!

Go gather all the parts

To ready them all!

Now dash away! Dash away!

Give them a call!

And then in a twinkling, I heard as in proof

The plans have all clicked, and they

Will not go poof

So details and contacts and licensing and more

Volunteers to come hither,

Help the musical score

We spoke no more words, but went straight

Home to work

To make all our contacts, push on

Like Captain Kirk

She sprang from her chair, to the team

Gave a whistle

And away we all flew, plan of action

Like a missile

We all exclaimed as we drove out of sight

Merry Christmas to all

And to all a good night!
